Director of Highways, Transportation & Environment
Trafford is a prosperous and sought-after place to live with excellent parks and green spaces and thriving town centres, each with their own unique identity and including the popular and lively modern market hall in Altrincham, and major cultural and leisure destinations including a dedicated arts centre, theatre and the Intu Trafford Centre - one of the UK's largest shopping destinations. We are a key asset to the region with a place at the top table of the Northern Powerhouse - essential to Greater Manchester's growth plans - contributing over GBP 9.6bn to the Greater Manchester economy. There are 23,000 homes to be built by 2035 and 1.12m square metre of new employment space. We have the development of the University Academy 92 (UA92) which opens up new avenues for economic growth and regeneration.
We are also at the heart of the city region with Manchester Airport, Manchester Piccadilly train station and major UK motorway networks on our doorstep. We already have a good story to tell. We now need to grasp the wider opportunities available to us and make strides on the commercial and investment landscape. We need the right people to help us lead and drive our bold and ambitious vision. Trafford is a place where innovation is encouraged, so appointing the right individuals with the right credentials, experience, enthusiasm and innovation is essential. We're a council with big plans and bold ambitions and we need two influential leaders to help drive our ambitious growth agenda. Leaders who are highly motivated, act with integrity and can engage and inspire a wide range of stakeholder both internally and externally.
