Are you passionate youth work? Are you skilled at building trusting, positive, relationships with young people, even when they don't want to know? Do you want to be part of a new, innovative, determined youth work team reaching out to young people across Trafford? Or work as part of the existing Talkshop team, listening to and supporting young parents, young people at risk of or experiencing sexual exploitation, and young people who go missing from home?
It's an exciting time to be a youth worker in Trafford. We are developing the Street Talk team to engage with young people on the streets and in local community centres, offering them support, activities and informal education to build on their strengths, overcome challenges and fulfil their potential. We are also expanding our offer for young people who go missing from home and who are at risk of being drawn into knife crime.
We are looking to recruit a number of Young People's Workers with excellent engagement skills and qualified to Level 3 (or higher) in youth work or a relevant equivalent qualification. We are looking for youth workers who can confidently respond to challenging behaviour and act on safeguarding concerns. Please see the person specifications for a full description of the experience, knowledge and skills we are looking for. We have permanent and fixed term contacts available.
If you have specific questions about the roles after you have read the job descriptions and person specifications please contact Annie Fordham (the Street Talk Coordinator) on 0161 912 2453.
This is a flexible role that is likely to include working at least three late evenings a week and some weekend sessions. Job shares or candidates requiring other flexibility are welcome. We are keen to recruit youth workers with varied backgrounds and life/work experience. Candidates may also be considered for bank Young People's Worker roles.
